Who we elect as our judges matters. It matters who sits on the bench in those five circuit courts. It matters who is hearing and deciding those cases. It matters who is presiding over trials and instructing juries on what the law is before they are asked to decide if someone is guilty of a crime. Who we elect as our judges matters.
As an experienced trial attorney, I know just how important it is for our judges to be fair and balanced. I know how important it is for them to follow the law. I also know how disastrous it can be for our community when judges either don’t know the law or choose to ignore it.
We need judges who represent the members of our community. Judges who share our beliefs, who share our values. We need judges who will ensure that the law is being followed; and when it’s not, we need judges who will hold those people who choose to break the law accountable for their decisions. We need judges who will think of the citizens of Delaware County before each and every decision they make.
Why Zach is Running for Judge
I know who we are in Delaware County and what we expect from our public servants. I know what we expect from those people who make decisions that affect all of us. I was born and raised in Muncie. I believe in this community. That is exactly why I chose to move back here to raise my family. My wife and I are raising our children in this community. And as a public servant in this county, I know that every decision I make has the possibility of affecting them down the line.
I believe those who have the ability to do something, have the responsibility to do something. That is how my wife and I raise our children. I have spent my entire career in public service. First, as an attorney for the Department of Child Services, and the last 16 years as a Deputy Prosecutor here in Delaware County. During my time in the Prosecutor’s Office, I have fought for justice for victims and their families. I have stood in front of countless juries and been the voice for those same victims who cannot speak for themselves. I have dedicated myself to honoring that responsibility and to living up to the trust that those families have placed in me to seek justice for their loved one. Those victims and their families, they deserve nothing less.
The same is true for the citizens of Delaware County. The members of this community deserve a judge who will work hard for them. A judge who will work hard to ensure that the law is followed. A judge who will never forget the members of this community and will honor and uphold the trust that is placed in them. That is the kind of judge that Delaware County deserves, and that is exactly the kind of judge I plan to be.
